Clockwise from Upper Left: (1) The Battery is now a city park, but during the Civil War it was a Fortress area., (2) an Historic Antibellum Mansion on The Battery, (3) the College of Charleston through the main gate, and (4) looking down Market Street to the City Market. This is where the black community used to do its trading and shopping and is now a major commercial area with street vendors, restaurants, bars and shops.
